We are seeking a Laboratory Supervisor to manage and oversee various critical functions within our laboratory environment. This role is essential for maintaining continuous lab operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and supporting the overall quality and efficiency of lab activities.

Day to Day of the Role:
  • Holiday Approval & Cover: Manage and approve staff leave requests, ensuring adequate lab coverage. Schedule staff for night and day shifts during others' leave, with lab supervisor backfilling as necessary.
  • Lab Consumables & Stock Management: Monitor inventory levels, order lab supplies, verify the arrival of items, and manage stock rotation using the FIFO principle to prevent expiry and waste.
  • Equipment & Schedule Management: Regularly calibrate lab equipment to ensure accuracy and compliance. Manage schedules to ensure swabbing and sampling activities are carried out as planned.
  • Additional Testing & Sampling: Conduct environmental monitoring and perform tests to determine product shelf life and nutritional content. Ensure compliance in weight checks.
  • Sample & Product Assessment: Manage laboratory samples by logging, labelling, storing, and tracking to ensure traceability. Assess products throughout their shelf life for quality and safety.
  • Quality & Compliance: Investigate complaints, check and file paperwork, and cross-check digital records with physical documentation for data integrity.
  • Procedures & Training: Review and update lab procedures and train staff on lab protocols and safety procedures.
  • Ongoing Support: Provide ongoing support for lab issues, including equipment failures, and manage the escalation and documentation of lab issues.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in lab operations or a similar role, preferably in a regulated environment.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using lab management software and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of quality control procedures and regulatory compliance guidelines.
